About Emiliano

I'm Emiliano Lemus, an herbalist and physician. My Oakland-based herbalism practice centers both social justice and energetic herbalism, based on the teachings of Karyn Sanders and Sarah Holmes at the Blue Otter School of Herbal Medicine. I've also spent a decade working as a community organizer, workshop facilitator, and educator, on topics including sexuality, sexual health, transgender competence, and the impacts of structural violence on health and wellbeing. As a queer and trans chicano (Purépecha and Chichimeca), I'm passionate about combining experiential and professional knowledge to provide trainings to health professionals and the broader community, as well as holistic health consultations.

2023 Update: Emiliano’s herbalism practice is currently closed to new clients

Because I’m in a particularly demanding year of medical training, I am no longer taking new herbalism clients. Please check back for updates.

Please don’t let this deter you from working with an herbalist! Here are some other herbalists who I strongly recommend in the Bay Area, many of whom are also trans/nonbinary themselves, and all of whom are on-point with social justice-informed care and queer and trans care: Finn Oakes, Nicole Witch-Hazel, Elokin Orton-Cheung , Kelley Dunn, Bonnie Rose Weaver, Lizanne Deliz, Stascha Stahl, and Tracey Brieger. There are many excellent herbalists around the Bay and other regions, and I’m happy to provide you with referrals if you email me. Working with any of these folks could be a transformative, life-affirming experience, and I hope you connect with them.

While my practice is closed to new clients, I am still teaching about trans health, sex positivity, and herbalism as my capacity allows. Please feel welcome to reach out about workshops and trainings.

I also still frequently host The Herbal Highway (IG @theherbalhighway). Catch me there!
